City police got a call reporting a hit and run accident on Chelmsford Street near A Street, about 8:30 p.m. The caller said his vehicle had been struck by a white “work truck” that failed to stop.
The driver of the Chevy pictured below continued to follow the white truck that struck his vehicle.
Officer Chad Collins was on patrol in the area of Plain Street, when he spotted the white truck described by the caller. Collins followed the truck, eventually pulling it over on Wilder Street, near Etta Road.
A short time later, Collins called for the prisoner transport wagon because he had the driver in custody for drunken driving.
Wesley Burk, 46, who is pictured above, is charged with OUI-alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and failure to keep right. He will be arraigned Monday.
Police say Burk lives at 17 S. Wilder St., which is only about a block from where Officer Collins pulled him over.
Burk was driving a box truck with a sign for Top Notch Construction on the side. The driver of the Chevy was not injured.
