The first 911 call for 1301 Middlesex Street came in about 4:45 p.m., reporting a man was being held on the ground outside.
Moments later, a second 911 call came from a woman reporting her apartment was covered in blood.
Here’s just a small amount of blood that was outside. I’m told inside was drastically worse.
Police arrived a short time after the 911 calls and found a man in his early 30’s bleeding profusely from several cuts.
They also found Abraham Concepcion, 22, of 1301 Middlesex St., Unit 5, who is pictured below. Police say Concepcion and the victim had been drinking for several hours when they got in a fight.
Police say Concepcion broke a bottle over the victim’s head, and then stabbed the victim with the broken remains of the bottle.
The victim was taken to Lowell General Hospital with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries. He was still transferred to an undisclosed Boston hospital as a precaution, though.
Above is the victim being wheeled to a medical helicopter in the rear parking lot of Lowell General Hospital.
I haven’t heard anything else about his condition so far, but I know he is expected to survive.
Concepcion is being held tonight on a single count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing severe bodily injury.
He will be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
Firefighters used bleach and speedy dry to clean up several pools of blood in the parking lot of the apartment building, but residents of the apartment where the fight took place will have to get the apartment cleaned up themselves.
