Police got called to a pretty gnarly crash at the VFW Highway and Bridge Street tonight about 7:15 p.m.
There were no serious injuries. Just one person taken to Saints Medical Center with minor injuries, according to police at the scene.
As you can see below, this SUV came pretty close to taking out the monument next to the Cox Bridge, though.
The other vehicle involved was pretty smashed up too. I’m told the driver of this white SUV was the person who was taken to the hospital.
That’s all I got at the scene because it was pouring rain and this crash caused the kind of traffic backup on the bridge that I usually only see on a weekday afternoon.
I’m chasing another story tonight so I didn’t put much time into this. I’m more interested in the reports I’m hearing that a 50-year-old man showed up at Lowell General Hospital tonight with a stab wound to his abdomen.
The victim in that incident, which was a domestic, is going to be okay. He was taken from Lowell General Hospital to an undisclosed Boston trauma center.
His 49-year-old girlfriend was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife). I have her name, but I’m making this entry from home and I left her name on my desk!
My apologies. It’s Saturday night. I was ready to get home!
