Timothy Desjardins, 23, of 931 Methuen St., Unit 2, was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with armed robbery.
Dracut Police say Desjardins pulled a knife on a clerk at the store and demanded cash before escaping. The clerk told police a suspicious woman had been lurking in the store not long before the robbery, and other witnesses told police the suspect and that woman were seen together outside the store in a gray or tan Chevrolet Impala.
They got away, but Patrolman Zachary Coleman responded to the robbery and recalled a March 2011 robbery at Billy’s Variety, a bit further down Merrimack Avenue, that led to the arrest of Kara Avila, 29, of 931 Methuen St.
Police say Coleman went to Avila’s home just in time to see her driving away in a gray Chevrolet Impala…
An investigation determined Avila was not involved in the robbery at Muddy River. Police say a further investigation revealed, though, that Avila is “associated with two other individuals who did match the descriptions of the individuals involved in the robbery.”
Those individuals were Desjardins and Amy Lee Carroll, 25, of 116 Tanglewood Drive, Dracut.
Police didn’t announce Desjardin’s arrest immediately because they wanted to track down Carroll first. She was arrested on a warrant last night in Methuen. Both her and Desjardins are charged with armed robbery.
Based on our arrest logs, it looks like Desjardins has a history of arrests dating back to 2006, when he was 17. Previous arrests listed for someone with the same name and same age were for charges including domestic assault and battery, domestic assault and battery on a pregnant person, restraining order violation, and multiple counts of larceny and breaking and entering.
I can’t absolutely confirm that person is the same person charged here, but it looks like this might not be Timothy Desjardins’ first trip to the prom.
