Woman stabbed on Powell Street?

This entry has been updated since it appears I had some incorrect, or at least unconfirmed, information at first.

Police were called to 162 Powell Street, at the corner of Powell and A streets, tonight at 6:48 p.m., for a report that a woman had been stabbed.

A 23-year-old woman was found at the scene bleeding from a cut to her back. She is pictured below as she is being taken to an ambulance. She was not identified by police, and I’m told by police that she was uncooperative with investigators.

The 23-year-old was taken to Saints Medical Center with a wound police said was not life-threatening. The woman told police she fell down a flight of steps and cut her back while falling. Police said the wound was much more consistent with what they see when someone is stabbed.

Police spent over an hour interviewing people at the scene, including a woman who snuck out a back door and jumped over a fence in the rear of the house while police were inside the home. Officers chased that woman down less than a block away.

That woman is pictured below, crying, on the stoop where she was caught. She was not charged.

Police say no one is going to face charges in connection with this since the victim remains uncooperative. She is already out of the hospital.

Two neighbors I spoke to at the scene, both of whom declined to give me their names, said the they often hear fighting inside the home. One neighbor said she heard people yelling about a half hour before police arrived.

Above is the home where this all went down. End of story, I guess. I apologize for reporting this incorrectly earlier.
