Police were called to the TD Bank branch at 350 Westford Street, which is open on Sundays, yesterday afternoon, when employees reported a suspicious man who had walked into and out of the bank two times.
While inside the bank, the man appeared to have his hand on something inside of his right pocket, employees told police.
Officer Arlene Siopes, Thomas Tetreault and Sgt. Mickey O’Keefe arrived to find Eliud Hernandez, 32, sitting in a truck outside the bank with another man, who police did not identify. Hernandez is homeless, according to police.
Police learned Hernandez had just gotten into an argument with this sister, since his sister refused to let him borrow $300, according to Capt. Kelly Richardson. In turn, Hernandez allegedly stole his father’s truck and drove to the bank, where he spoke to police, Richardson said.
Inside the truck, police found a realistic-looking toy gun, according to police.
Police charged Hernandez with receiving a stolen motor vehicle. He is not facing any other charges.
