Motorcycle down in the downtown

Police say a 32-year-old Dracut man, pictured below, was taken to Lowell General Hospital with minor injuries after a collision between his motorcycle and a green Pontiac Grand Am driven by a 19-year-old Salisbury woman.

The crash occurred about 5:50 p.m., at 29 Central Street, near the intersection with Middle Street. Above is the motorcycle driver being treated. Below are the motorcycle and car involved.

It’s already been a tough Spring for motorcycle drivers. Please be careful out there everyone.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene, but the car was driven away. No word on charges.

Below is a picture of the overall scene.

Central Street was closed between Market and Merrimack streets while emergency crews dealt with this, so traffic on Central Street was not pretty. I’m not sure if it’s cleared up yet, but you might want to avoid the area for another 30 minutes or so.

  1. Every time I think I want a motorcycle I read stories like this and remember why I’m still driving my old Corolla. I’m glad the drivers are okay 😦
